Heather McCooey is a New Jersey Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor, and Certified Clinical Supervisor, who specializes in the treatment of individuals, groups, and families.  She has experience working with adults with a variety of acute and chronic behavioral health issues such as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders as well as drug and alcohol use disorders and the impacts of these illnesses on families and loved ones.

Ms. McCooey attained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Development and Sociology from Boston College. She then obtained a Master of Social Work from Monmouth University, specializing in clinical practice with families and addiction studies.  Ms. McCooey has significant clinical experience in both inpatient and intensive outpatient settings, providing clinical treatment to adults with substance abuse issues, chronic mental illness, and acute emotional distress. Ms. McCooey provides individual, family, and group counseling to adults using cognitive-behavioral, motivational, and person-centered therapies.  She offers a thoughtful, down-to-earth, and humorous demeanor and perspective in working with her clients and feels grateful to be a part of their journey toward self-knowledge, improvement, and change.

In addition to working in direct clinical practice, Ms. McCooey provides clinical supervision to counselors working towards their professional licensure in addiction and mental health services.
